Caring for Your Gund Collection
As one of the oldest makers of stuffed animals, Gund has proven that quality and design can make an ordinary loveable stuffed animal into a valuable collectible. If you have picked up on the Gund craze - and I don’t blame you, they’re great – you should take steps to take care of your precious Gund collection by storing and cleaning it properly.
Storing Gund Collectibles
If you don’t plan to display them, keep them stored in a plastic container to keep the dust and pests away. Periodically check on them to make sure they aren’t being attacked by moths or any other pests. For the ones you want to display, you can keep them looking great by getting shelves enclosed in glass. That may be a bit expensive, so instead you can simply take the time to dust them on a regular basis. Also, try not to keep them where they may be exposed to strong odors – they tend to absorb odors, which can be difficult to remove.
Cleaning Gund Collectibles
Basic dusting and regular cleaning require only a dry rag or soft-bristled brush. When your Gund critters become too dusty or soiled, you may need to clean a little deeper. A damp washrag can clean most dust and dirt. You can also sprinkle baking soda over the dirty areas, let sit for a few minutes, and then vigorously dust with a dry rag.
The key to keeping Gund animals looking great is to prevent big dust and dirt accumulation. Regular dusting, brushing or wiping down will stop the dirt from building up and help keep them looking like new, preserving their value.
